Cost of college went up for all students at Labette Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.1 percent for 2018-19 at Labette Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kansas residents paid $3,060 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $120 more than the $2,940 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 24.5 percent more than residents this year, or $3,810. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $3,690 in 2017-18.

About 75 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kansas residents. And about 24 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 221 students received grants or scholarships totaling $979,765 and 39 students took out student loans totaling more than $153,837.

Including all undergraduates (2,178), 923 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.5 million, and 215 students took out $1.1 million in federal student loans.
