Cost of college went up for all students at Pittsburg State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.8 percent for 2018-19 at Pittsburg State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kansas residents paid $7,298 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $198 more than the $7,100 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 155.4 percent more than residents this year, or $18,642. Their price tag grew 2.7 percent from $18,152 in 2017-18.

About 65 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kansas residents. And about 34 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 794 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.5 million and 612 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (6,625), 4,642 students used grants or scholarships totaling $40.2 million, and 3,161 students took out $19.3 million in federal student loans.
