Graduates earn 590 degrees, certificates from Fort Scott Community College

About 50 percent of the 590 degrees and certificates handed out by Fort Scott Community College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Scott conferred 266 certificates and 29 associate's degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in nursing assistant/aide and patient care assistant/aide. Data shows the school gave out 197 certificates in nursing assistant/aide and patient care assistant/aide, followed by 173 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies and 39 certificates in welding technology/welder.

The college enrolled 1,868 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
