The Coffeyville Community College Foundation is honored to introduce the newly endowed Conner Taylor Memorial Baseball Award. This award is being endowed by The Conner Taylor Change4Conner Foundation, Inc.
This annual award will be presented to a sophomore baseball player selected by the CCC Baseball coaching staff. Recipients will exemplify the characteristics portrayed by Conner:
· Caring and compassionate
· Academic and athletic excellence
· Respected by coaches, staff and players
· Encouraging teammate
· Servant leader on and off the field
The Conner Taylor Memorial Baseball Award will be presented annually during the Mental Health/Suicide Awareness baseball game in the Spring semester of the baseball season. A $2k stipend will be given directly to the student athlete selected as the winner of the award.
Conner attended Coffeyville Community College on a Presidential and Baseball scholarship between 2013 and 2015. He was a KJCCC and NJCAA academic award winner. Tragically, he took his own life in 2016 at 21 years of age. Conner dealt with unknown mental health issues and chose to battle his demons alone, not wishing to burden those who knew and loved him.
The Conner Taylor Change4Conner Foundation was established to promote mental health awareness and encourage those dealing with mental health to seek assistance. For more information on the Foundation, log on to the website www.change4conner.org.
