Allen Men Take Down Braves

The 4th ranked Allen Men's Basketball team earned a 99-56 victory in their 2022-23 debut over the Ottawa University reserve team. Tanner Meyer wasted little time as he was able to knock down a corner 3 in the first few seconds of the game to give the Red Devils the early advantage, and Allen would never look back. The Braves would make a couple early 3's to keep the score close in the early going, but Allen's defense would go on to cause a lot of turnovers for Ottawa which led to easy points for Allen. At halftime Allen led by 27 points with a score of 48-21.

In the second half Allen would leave no doubt as they quickly pushed the lead to over 30 points and kept it that way for the remainder of the contest. Allen was led in scoring by Ahmed Mahgoub with 23 points on 8 of 10 shooting from the floor. Freshman guard Brycen Dean performed well in his debut in an Allen uniform with 17 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the 3 point line. Chris Dixon caught fire in the first half and finished the contest with 16 points. Killian Spellman also had a nice first game for Allen with 9 points off the bench.

The Red Devils will travel to Ark City, KS this weekend for a big matchup with Cowley County on Friday night at 7:30 pm, and then Allen will square off the Coffeyville on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
