Neosho County went on the road Saturday to face a top 20 Division 1 Junior College, Connors State College, and were defeated 65-89. The Cowboys had a distinct size advantage, and used that to outscore the Panthers 38-26 in the paint. They also took care of the ball and were able to force turnovers, capitalizing to the tune of 16-8 in transition points.
Neosho played hard throughout the game but once again had trouble scoring the ball, shooting 36% from the field and 25% from the 3pt line. They were also outscored 22 to 8 on the free throw line and lost the turnover battle 15 to 7. The one bright spot for the Panthers was the play of Derrick Wiley Jr., who finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, on 6/12 shooting. NCCC will next face North Arkansas College on Thursday, December 1st at home.
