Red Raven Cheyenne Banks' Double-Double Powers 72-57 Victory Over Indy

Red Raven center Cheyenne Banks had her fourth double-double of the year as the Coffeyville Women's Basketball Team defeated cross-county rivals Independence 72-57.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improve their overall record to 10-4 on the season including a 6-2 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  Their 6-2 KJCCC record currently has Coffeyville sitting in third place in the 13-team KJCCC Division I Conference.

Coffeyville jumped out quickly in this one scoring the first eight points of the game.  Coffeyville led 18-10 after the first quarter.  The pirates of Indy did even up the score at 22-22 midway through the second quarter, but Coffeyville finished the half strong and went into halftime with a 35-26 lead.  The pirates pulled within eight (54-46) at the end of the third quarter, but that was the closest they would get, and Coffeyville closed out the game by outscoring Indy by seven in the final quarter to post the 72-57 victory.

Coffeyville center Cheyenne Banks had a season-high 24 points along with 10 rebounds to post her fourth double-double of the season.  Red Raven sophomore guard Kennady Roach contributed 16 points and 6 rebounds while sophomore guard Kyleigh Ortiz pitched in 11 points.

Coffeyville will return to the court after the holidays with their next game scheduled for Wednesday, January 4th with a home game against the Thunderbirds of Cloud County.  Tip-off in Nellis Hall on January 4th is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
