Gorillas Pull Away for 84-69 Win

Sydney Holmes led four Pittsburg State University women's basketball players in double figures with 15 points as the Gorillas pulled away for an 84-69 victory over Tabor College Thursday (Dec. 29) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Pitt State (9-3) led 42-37 at halftime before the Gorillas pulled away in the final 30 minutes of play against the Blue Jays.

Holmes made seven of 11 shots from the floor as Pitt State converted 37 of 71 (.521) field goal attempts in the contest.

Karenna Gerber added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Alba Lozano Davila had career highs with 13 points and nine rebounds in the contest. Harper Schreiner added 11 points and Grace Pyle finished with 10.

The Gorillas will return to MIAA play Monday (Jan. 2) by traveling to Joplin, Mo., to battle No. 9 ranked Missouri Southern State University at 5:30 p.m. (CST) at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
