Pitt State Baseball Picked Second in MIAA Preseason Poll
The Pittsburg State University baseball team was picked second in the 2023 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll released Jan. 20.
The Gorillas received 100 points in voting of the 12 MIAA member school head coaches. Central Missouri earned the unanimous preseason No. 1 ranking, receiving 11 first place votes and 121 points. Northeastern State was picked third with one first place vote and 97 points, while Central Oklahoma (94) and Washburn (85) landed at fourth and fifth in the poll.
The Gorillas posted a 31-21 overall record and a 22-11 mark in MIAA play in 2022. Pitt State advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 MIAA Postseason Tournament.
The Gorillas will open the 2023 campaign Feb. 3-5 when they travel to Edmond, Okla., to compete in the UCO First Pitch Classic.
