Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jake LaTurner of Kansas has written a letter to Governor Kelly, Senate President Masterson, and House Speaker Hawkins, urging them to take action in order to prevent the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its proxies from expanding their presence in Kansas. This call comes after LaTurner urged the Biden administration to investigate Cnano Technology USA, Inc., a Chinese-backed manufacturing company with plans to open a facility in Johnson County, Kansas.
In the letter, LaTurner expresses his concerns about the CCP's relentless efforts to infiltrate supply chains and gain insight into the national security apparatus. He states, "Allowing Cnano USA to operate near significant military installations and other critical infrastructure opens the door to Chinese espionage and poses a serious threat to the United States and Kansas. We must do everything within our power to prevent CCP-backed companies from expanding their foothold in our state."
LaTurner specifically calls on Governor Kelly and the leaders of the Kansas legislature to take action during this legislative session to protect Kansas from the exploitation of supply chains by Communist China and to safeguard crucial military bases across the state. He emphasizes the urgency of the matter, stating, "I urge you to act swiftly and pass legislation to prevent this CCP infiltration of Kansas and any future investment by our adversaries, taking into consideration the implications for our supply chain integrity and the potential risk of foreign investment in such close proximity to our military bases."
The congressman's letter has garnered attention from various news outlets. The Kansas Reflector reported on LaTurner's security concerns about a China-based manufacturer locating in Johnson County. The Kansas City Star highlighted LaTurner's request for the Biden administration to investigate the company. The Daily Caller published an exclusive article about LaTurner urging the Biden administration to investigate the CCP-tied firm building near sensitive US military sites. Mundo in the Morning interviewed LaTurner about Cnano, and NTD News expressed their concern about the CCP-linked company's plan to build a facility near US military sites in Kansas.
LaTurner's letter underscores the importance of protecting national and economic security by preventing the expansion of the CCP's influence in Kansas. It remains to be seen how Governor Kelly and the Kansas legislature will respond to this call to action.
