U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) have initiated the Senate Sustainable Aviation Caucus to support the aviation industry's sustainability and renewable fuels sector.

Senator Moran emphasized the importance of sustainable aviation fuel in reducing emissions: "As the aviation industry strives for lower emissions and cleaner energy sources, the development and utilization of sustainable aviation fuel will be a critical element," he said. He added that the caucus aims to promote innovative solutions to enhance the U.S.'s competitiveness in producing sustainable aviation fuel.

Senator Duckworth highlighted efforts to reduce emissions and boost energy independence: "As we continue our work to reduce emissions and foster energy independence, one of the most important things we can do is make aviation more sustainable by increasing the use and supply of American-grown, American-made sustainable aviation fuel," she stated. She looks forward to working with her colleagues to protect and grow American SAF production while supporting domestic farmers and reducing carbon footprints.

Senator Boozman expressed his commitment to promoting sustainable industry practices: "I’m pleased to join this initiative to promote education and policies that support sustainable industry practices," he said. He anticipates collaborating with caucus leaders and stakeholders on environmentally sound measures.

Senator Klobuchar noted airlines' dedication to reducing carbon emissions: "Airlines across the country are committed to developing technologies to reduce carbon emissions from air travel," she remarked. She believes expanding sustainable aviation fuel use will create rural jobs, bolster national security, and significantly cut carbon emissions.

The SAF Coalition commended Senator Moran and his colleagues for their leadership: "The formation of the caucus is a positive step towards strengthening national energy security, driving economic growth, and generating quality jobs across the country through the development and deployment of SAF."

GAMA praised bipartisan efforts in launching this initiative: "General aviation has been at the forefront of advancing technological and operational improvements that mitigate the industry’s impact on the environment."

Delta Air Lines also supported this move: "SAF is the most important lever we have to decarbonize aviation and ensure a more energy secure America," they noted.

Additional endorsements came from various sectors recognizing this initiative's potential for job creation, economic growth, national security enhancement, environmental benefits, and fostering innovation in sustainable technologies.

Congresswoman Sharice Davids (KS-03) and Congressman Dusty Johnson (SD-AL) have similarly created a Congressional Sustainable Aviation Caucus for House members.
