U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas has expressed disappointment following the release of a proposed Farm Bill by Senator Debbie Stabenow, chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture. In his statement, Moran criticized the delay in delivering a new Farm Bill, which he believes is essential for providing certainty to farmers and ranchers across Kansas and America.
"I am disappointed Congress is unable to deliver certainty to Kansas and America’s farmers and ranchers by passing a new Farm Bill," said Sen. Moran. He noted that Stabenow's legislation comes over a year late, missing an opportunity for bipartisan collaboration.
Moran also emphasized the importance of focusing on negotiations within the Senate Appropriations Committee. "We now focus fully on the Senate Appropriations Committee to negotiate a natural disaster and economic assistance supplemental for farmers and ranchers who have suffered from high input costs and low commodity prices along with drought," he added.
The remarks highlight ongoing challenges faced by agricultural producers due to economic pressures and environmental conditions, underscoring the need for legislative support.
