U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) engaged in a discussion with Congressman Sean Duffy, President Trump's nominee for Secretary of the Department of Transportation, during a Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation hearing. The focus was on the future of Boeing and its significance to both national security and the economy.
Senator Moran emphasized Boeing's critical role, stating, "Boeing is important to us, certainly in commercial travel, but it is a hugely important component of our national security and defense capabilities." He further noted the impact on Kansas' economy by highlighting that "Spirit AeroSystems, Kansas' largest private employer, is a supplier to Boeing. Boeing’s success is important to the jobs and incomes that many Kansans rely on."
The senator also pointed out Wichita's role as "the Air Capital of the World," emphasizing its importance in Boeing's supply chain.
