U.S. Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall have introduced a resolution to honor the life of Sarah Milgrim, an Overland Park native, and her soon-to-be fiancé, Yaron Lischinsky. The couple was tragically murdered outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025.
Senator Moran stated: “The loss of Kansan Sarah Milgrim and her soon-to-be fiancé, Yaron Lischinsky, to a sickening act of antisemitic violence is a tragedy that should never have happened.” He emphasized the need to end such violence and expressed solidarity with Kansans and the Jewish community in mourning their loss.
Senator Marshall highlighted Sarah's impact at just 26 years old: “An Overland Park native, she was a talented musician and chorus singer, deeply devoted to her faith, exceptionally intelligent, and selflessly committed to the well-being of others." He hoped that the resolution would serve as a lasting tribute to her remarkable life.
Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky were killed by a pro-Palestinian terrorist after attending an event celebrating Jewish heritage. Both worked at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. Sarah held degrees from the University of Kansas and American University and began working as Director of Civil Society Affairs at the Embassy of Israel in 2023.
